Nintendo Switch: Battery Will be Supplied by The Same Company that Provided for Galaxy Note 7
The suppliers from the exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is back and is now in partners with Nintendo. Amperex, the Japanese battery maker, a division of conglomerate TDK, will be making the lithium-ion batteries for Nintendo's Switch console.
The news was confirmed by Amperex and logos were even seen on the actual battery in the recent teardown of the Nintendo Switch. Amperex was previously with Samsung as they made batteries for the Galaxy Note 7, a phone that is prone to excessive overheating and even explosions. It resulted to Samsung's abrupt recalls of about 3 million units worldwide.

Samsung has already contracted Sony to supply them the batteries for their upcoming Galaxy S8, in addition to Amperex and the company's own battery outfit. This could possibly a sign that Samsung is fluctuating away from Amperex due to the Note 7 catastrophe.
In fact, Amperex has not claimed that the batteries they made were the cause of the Note 7 catastrophe, saying instead that it was due to shortage of testing and problems from the phone's design itself. It was not really a surprise because Samsung allegedly rushed the Note 7 to the market for them to lead against Apple.
Consumers of the Nintendo Switch should not be worried because it is unlikely that the batteries will be having any issues. Nintendo has been known for their long history of creating hardware particularly portable devices, according to Ninteno Today.
Amperex themselves has supply hundreds of batteries to different devices from different companies. Reports claim that the only one of which has had problems is with the Galaxy Note 7 and those are tied to the design of the phone, not the battery.
The Nintendo Switch will be released on March 3 worldwide. The console will first launch in the US, Japan, then parts of Europe that includes the UK, Australia and then to several other countries.
