Oppo Smartphones increase in Sales (YouTube)
Oppo unveiled their new technology for the MWC 2017. The 5X lossless zoom - more than twice better than iPhone 7's 2X lossless zoom - offers better photo quality on a smartphone. Despite not being able to release any new mobile phone, Oppo has been headstrong when it comes to introducing new technologies.

Last year, Oppo unveiled their SmartSensor and VOOC Super Flash Charge technology. Now, the camera technology will be impressed on Oppo's intent to manipulate the mobile phone market in China, as well as in India - two of the world's largest population of smartphone users. Sky Li, OPPO India President said,
"... this remarkable achievement is the result of an extensive, year-long R&D process, combined with OPPO's unparalleled expertise in smartphone imaging technology. We chose MWC to unveil the '5X' technology with the belief that we can inspire the industry to aim higher..."
The 5X lossless zoom is dubbed as "new periscope style dual-camera technology." OPPO's technology uses wide-angle and telephoto lenses. These telephoto lenses are placed at 90-degrees to the wide-angle lens. It utilizes the periscope-style prism similar to that of submarines providing the large space for deep 5X zoom.
The prism will shift the path of light by 90-degrees to make contact with the telephoto lens. The 5X lossless zoom can give users high-quality landscapes, close-ups and portraits with utmost perfection compared to the standard high-end cameras already in the market.
OPPO also promise that the 5X lossless zoom will be slimmer than the currently used 2X zoom and other mobile phone cameras in the market. The 5X lossless zoom alone may make the photos blurry, so the company coupled the technology with OIS on the telephoto lens which will stabilize the photo quality.
OPPO has been slowly rising to fame thanks to the help of their offline marketing strategy, scattered across areas in China and India to make the brand known. With this strategy, even Xiaomi, Huawei and Vivo also entered the offline marketing game to promote their devices.
However, OPPO hasn't given a word yet if when they will be implementing these technologies on their devices. It could come as a surprise for their upcoming flagship device - which haven't surfaced yet for a long period of time since their F1s Plus.
