Facebook is using artificial intelligence to detect users that are suicidal or may possibly put themselves at risk.
Facebook can easily detect if there is something wrong with the person by reading the user's' posts and friends' comments. The company will contact the user that may possibly do self-harm. The human review team of Facebook already confirmed this and currently testing artificial intelligence in the US.

Facebook can also see suicidal behavior via Facebook Live. They also partnered with some mental health organizations in the US to contact vulnerable users through Messenger. Although it is said to be helpful, a suicide helpline chief also said that it is critical. For the past years, Facebook offered advice to its users that have a suicidal post but until now it only relies on other users clicking the report button.
The newly developed pattern-recognition and artificial intelligence will recognize if the user is struggling based on its previous post or content that has been flagged. An example is when someone post about pain or sadness and the comments on the content using phrases; "I'm worried about you," or "Are you OK?" will be recognized. The identified post will go through the Community Operation Team of Facebook to review.
Facebook was praised by the director of US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, but also hoped that the social media site will also give more than just an advice like contacting someone close to the user that can give help.
Last month, the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg announced that he outlined this platform to let artificial intelligence software review the contents posted on the social media site. Aside from suicidal contents of other users, it will also detect the content posted by terrorist.
