One of the best ways to something is to tell a friend. (YouTube)
Perhaps, you are one of those who drink cups of coffee just to stay awake and study for examinations. Maybe, you are also using word repetition, creating index cards, and listening to lectures you recorded weeks ago.
Currently, researchers from Baylor University have found a more convenient memory hack to recall information. All you need to do is to talk to your friend about what you have learned.

According to the lead author of the study Melanie Sekeres, telling a friend is like re-generating or actively replaying the information as compared to simply reading the textbook again. As Baylor's psychologist, Sekeres also explained that the brain prefers rewarding memories that replay every time you rest.
It is worth noting that it is normal to forget some details, especially as we gow older. However, the brain of human beings is adaptive. Important things can be recalled easily as compared to those which are not really significant. Sekeres explained that your brain does not want to go through numbers of useless information.
Moreover, nothing you learn is forgotten permanently. We are only unable to access some of these memories.
The study conducted by Sekeres and her colleagues was published in the "Learning and Memory" Journal. There were 60 participants in the study, with an average age of 21. They were divided into three groups and each had their own designated task, according to Medical Daily.
If you want to retain information, just tell a friend. No need for sleepless nights and cups of coffee!
