Google Pixel 2 will be launched this year
The Google Pixel 2 is reportedly set for release this year and will feature the Android O. According to Google SVP of Hardware Rick Osterloh, previous launches of Google's flagships and operating systems may provide indication as to when the upcoming Google smartphone may be launched.
Before the Pixel XL and Pixel, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were launched on September 29, 2015. It showcased Android Lollipop. In 2016, the Pixel XL and Pixel were announced before October 4. Therefore, the Google Pixel 2 smartphone may be unveiled between September and October this year.

The new Google phone will come at a premium price, AppleInsider reported. It means that the Pixel 2 may be as costly as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8. If reports are anything to go by, the Google Pixel 2 will feature an improved processor, camera, and the water resistant feature. Speculations are doing the rounds that the search giant will have a budget version dubbed Pixel 2B.
According to Android Geeks, the Google smartphone will ditch the headphone jack. Furthermore, the tech giant has been testing many Pixel 2 models with a variety of new processors - some models with Snapdragon 83X processors and other models with Intel processors.
The last version of Android N was launched in August last year as Android Nougat. Reports indicate that Android 0 will also be released in August this year. Google tablets and smartphones are always the first to receive the latest OS updates.
However, even the search giant will not support them forever. Security updates are offered for three years following the device's launch, or 18 months after it is removed from the Play Store.
For instance, the Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will be supported by the software company till September 2017. It means that these devices will receive Android Nougat and Android O. Both Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will be supported till October 2016. It should mean that these devices get an update to Android N but not Android O.
