A recent study revealed that Broccoli could potentially prevent or even help in treating prostate cancer. Regular eating of such vegetable affects long noncoding RNAs or lncRNAs.

Cancer treatment is not only limited to medication and therapies. It is highly suggested by experts that a healthy diet should accompany the treatment. That is why experts are highly recommending to include this cruciferous vegetable in a cancer patient's meal plan.

It has discovered by Oregon State University that sulforaphane, found in broccoli, may help in preventing and even treating cancer. In their research, sulforaphane has been observed to reduce the expression lncRNAs in prostate cancer cells, according

"It's obviously of interest that this dietary compound, found at some of its highest levels in broccoli, can affect lncRNAs. This could open the door to a whole range of new dietary strategies, foods, or drugs that might play a role in cancer suppression or therapeutic control," Medical News Today quoted study investigator Emily Ho as saying.

The most recent research concerning the cancer benefits of eating the said vegetable is not the first of its kind. There has been previous research made confirming the health benefits of the said plant. If regularly made part of the meal, it may affect chronic inflammation oxidative stress, and inadequate detoxification, according to World's Healthiest Foods.

Some of the nutrients may be gained from the green vegetable are vitamin K, fiber, folate, chromium, choline, phosphorus, vitamin C, zinc, vitamin B, omega-3 fats, calcium, iron, and pantothenic acid. These nutrients taken altogether significantly affects the body and its ability to fight diseases like cancer.

Concerning the question of how much broccoli is needed for cancer prevention, experts suggest at least 2-cup serving twice a week to meet minimum average amount. However, one should not neglect cancer treatment despite the constant consumption of the said vegetables.
