There are a lot of things that still needs work in the latest Android OS. The team are expecting Android users to try out the new OS with their apps for them to have feedbacks on the features since the Developer's Preview is already accessible. Currently, the latest OS will primarily introduce a list of new features and API's for users to check, according to Google's VP of Engineering, David Burke.
Some of those interesting features of the latest OS include the Notification Channels. These newest app-defined groups for notification content allow developers to give Android users to control on different types of notifications. Some of them include user's ability to block or change the behaviour of every channel separately instead of controlling all the notification from the apps altogether. Furthermore, the Android O introduces new appearances for the notifications to make it easier to use and view when there is an incoming message.
Background Limits is another interesting feature that is included in the Android O. Even though the feature is not directly interfaced by the user, it is still a bold move that could effectively save battery life. This feature basically puts a restriction or limit on the apps that are running on the background. There are three major areas that the feature limits which are background services, location updates and implicit broadcasts. The major areas will be immediately restricted by Androidme. This feature will also help developers in creating apps that does not immediately deplete battery life.
The Developer's Preview of Android O is already available in the official Android emulator. Android users will need to download it if they want to try it on hardware. This can be downloaded by devices like Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel X, Nexus 5x, Nexus 6P, and Nexus Player, reported by Google.
