Game producer of "Death Stranding", Hideo Kojima, has recently offered a series of latest development update of the game right from his own studio. However, nothing is mentioned about the game's storyline or a new addition to the game's cast yet.
Kojima, in his latest tweets, revealed how the development of "Death Stranding" is coming into fruition piece by piece. The game creator has confirmed that he was heavily working on the game design and is back to direct his attention on scenario development.

In his first tweet, he talked about doing the game creation each day, which includes writng, setting, making specs at his desk and working on game design as well as direction on site.

I do game creation everyday. Writing, setting, making specs are done at my desk while doing game design, direction on site.— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) April 7, 2017
He went on to go into specifics, saying that he is closely monitoring the game's progress. Also, he is doing the models, background, lightings, sound and more from day to day.

He added that in directing, he gives orders on where to fix and address problems with workable solutions that will turn in better outcome. By doing so, there is no doubt or waste in the whole production process of "Death Stranding".

It's apparent, though, that Kojima avoids to talk about the game's storyline or new cast to the game. What fans know so far is the inclusion of "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus and "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen, nothing more.
As for the release date of "Death Stranding", since the game creator himself revealed that the game is pretty much in the script and design stage, it looks to be far way off from seeing the light of day. Many expect that Kojima's first IP will arrive around 2019, iDigital Times noted.
Fans, on the other hand, are hopeful that the developer will be up and ready to whet their appetite with a brand new gameplay trailer for "Death Stranding" at Sony's E3 conference in June.
