"Battlefield 1" has received its latest Spring Update, bringing with it four new weapon variants and platoons, several bug fixes, server administration features and balance adjustments. Also, the game's new DLC easter egg summons a giant shark.

With the Spring update released for "Battlefield 1", players can now create and manage their own Platoon but only limited to one General role. When creating a Platoon, players can add Name, Tag, Description, Emblem and Access Type which will define how other players can and cannot join ones' Platoon.

These three options are Open, where anyone can instantly join the Platoon; Apply-to-Join, where anyone can apply and members with permissions can accept or reject applications; and Closed, where no player can join the Platoon.

Platoons were first introduced in "Battlefield 3" to bring a stronger and more organized sense of community to players and they can easily find when and where their teammates are playing. The Spring Update introduces the most essential features for Platoons in "Battlefield 1", which could mean that the developers can continue building on it in the future.

Moreover, new server administration features can now grant other players admin rights, ability to use password protected servers and it can now be set to need lower numbers before pre-round ends.

In the new update, Medics can now spot dead players that they intend to revive. The fallen player will see the Medic's name blinking in the death screen showing as "incoming medic". The medic will also shout that he is coming.

There are also four new weapon variants and players can unlock each of them by completing special weapon assignments: the Hellriegel 1915 Defensive, the Selbstlader 1906 Sniper, The Huot Automatic Optical and the Martini Henry Sniper. Finally, DICE has another Easter egg in the They Shall Not Pass DLC. As per Kotaku, players can summon a terrifying giant shark from the depths. Check out the video below to see the mighty megalodon pop out of the mud.

"Battlefield 1" is developed by EA Dice and published by Electronic Arts. It was released in October last year for Xbox One, PS4 and Microsoft Windows.
