Microsoft recently announced the Surface Laptop designed specifically for the education sector. The budget laptop will benefit teachers as well as students. The device is a 13.5-inch laptop designed to work with Microsoft's new Windows 10 S OS.

According to The Verge, it is faster than the MacBook Pro (Core i7) and has longer battery life than MacBook Air. The tech company has started taking pre-orders for the Surface Laptop, with prices beginning at $999 for the Core i5 version with 128GB of SSD storage and 4GB of RAM.

Microsoft will begin shipping the device on June 15. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will reportedly rival the bigger iPad Pro 2. Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO, admitted that in the recent quarter, sales of Surface devices fell short of expectations.

Nadella said that the tech company currently needs to launch the successor to the Surface Pro 4. The new Surface Pro 5 is expected to be launched this fall.

The new laptop will likely be powered by the seventh generation Kaby Lake processor, according to TechCrunch. Microsoft has not disclosed any information about the Pro 5.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the Surface Book 2 will not see the light of day in the forthcoming months; however, it is still expected to hit the market this year. Microsoft is having an event in June and the tech company will dedicate it to something else completely.
