NVIDIA and Toyota have collaborated to create a new technology for autonomous cars. Toyota's AI vehicle is set for release in 2020, and they are relying on NVIDIA to help them create a super computer that can make a decision for the passenger in a split second.
NVIDIA is known to create top-of-the-line GPUs and system on chip units. The new self-driving car will use NVIDIA’s DRIVE PX system. Toyota has been working on the development of autonomous cars for 20 years now, and NVIDIA’s input is expected to bring the project closer to its completion.

The new technology is not only capable of deep learning 30 trillion operations each second but can also make a complex decision at ten thousand split seconds. Moreover, both companies plan to add lidar, camera, radar, and state-of-the-art sensors. The AI will have 360-degree access of the car’s surrounding which will make safe driving much easier for the vehicle.
"Through this collaboration, we intend to accelerate the development of autonomous driving systems that are even more safe and capable," NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang said in an interview. They aim to provide autonomous cars to the society that people can use comfortably and safely all around the world.
Both companies did not disclose how far they are from completing the project, but it is expected to happen before the end of 2021.
