Twitter username MonkeyFlop tweeted the "God of War" PS4 banner featuring the series protagonist Kratos and his son Atrius. Not only, that Sony announced their line-up of video game titles at E3 2017 which included the sequel alongside "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," "Spider-Man" PS4, "Days Gone" and "Gran Turismo Sport."
Presumably, Sony Santa Monica Studio will take to the stage, show off a demo of "God of War" PS4, and then announce an official release date. Geoff Keighley recently announced that there will be a one-hour presentation of "God of War" at the E3 Coliseum event to kick things off on June 13 and game director Cory Barlog will be in attendance, GameSpot reported.
In other news, it seems that "God of War" PS4 will be more narrative-focused and feature combat that is more similar to "The Witcher" series. It looks like the sequel may be taking more from "The Witcher" than just its combat, as Sony has confirmed that the game features an open-world approach.
Sony executive Jim Ryan told Glixel that the new open-world and narrative focused story is the result of the company's global thinking.
Ryan added that "God of War" is a franchise that has historically acutely under-performed in Europe. Hack and slash games tend to not sell well, so the narrative this time around will make a big difference and he stated that European gamers love narrative games.
The new "God of War" game will feature gods and mythical creatures from Norse Mythology, before he viking age. Balrog assured gaming fans that "God of War" will feature elements from Norse Mythology and Santa Monica Studio have been exploring the lore of Scandinavia.
The development team’s mindset for the sequel's creation is rooted in “a prehistory point," where gods did walk the Earth, when monsters were real, before they became extinct.
There is no release date yet for "God of War" in the PS4 console.
