As "The Last of Us 2" missed E3 last week, heavy speculations now to point to a possible appearance at PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2017 in December. Naughty Dog has also talked recently about the progress in its development.
In his latest interview with Euro Gamer, Naughty Dog's creative director of "Uncharted: Lost Legacy", Shaun Escayg, was quizzed what is the studio's focus at the moment. Escayg replied saying that it's directing full attention right now on the standalone expansion and not on "The Last of Us 2".

He went on adding that there is only a small team who is currently working on TLOU 2 and while production is making progress, it's a slow one.
"Right now, the studio's focus is Lost Legacy," said Escayg. "We have a truly ambitious schedule. The Last of Us project is working but at a slower pace right now."
Apparently, Escayg's revelation agrees with Neil Druckmann's tweet on June 13, saying that even though they're just as excited to show some more of Ellie and Joel's second journey, it was time for Chloe and Nadine to shine at E3.
So, after "The Last of Us 2" skipped E3, it is quite given that the major PS4 game's next big gameplay trailer reveal will happen at PSX 2017, the Sony-centric event where it was first announced last year. Naughty Dog showed a trailer at the event but it emphasized that the sequel is still in early stages of development.
It's a no-brainer guess for anyone who would say that a new trailer will be shown at PSX 2017 in December, given its sheer absence at E3 2017. The new title to the series is expected to headline the event alongside Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding", which was also a no-show at the biggest annual trade show.
Game analysts predict that "The Last of Us 2" will not see its release until late months of 2018 at the earliest time. The follow-up to 2013 hit title is developed exclusively for PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles.
