Hopper is a line of digital video recording (DVR) set-top boxes offered by the U.S. direct-broadcast satellite television provider Dish Network.
A satellite company has announced its new DVR that will enable users to record shows in four different channels at the same time.
Dish will be releasing their latest DVR, the Hopper 3, Consumerist reported. The new DVR is said to be seven times more powerful and faster with an improved interface than their present DVR. Other than having a more powerful and improved interface, the Hopper 3 has six different Joey receivers, which can connect up seven TV sets and use them at the same time by using a single DVR.

Those features were just a gist of what the new Hopper 3 could do. Its main feature is that it can record about 16 shows and watch four channels all at the same time. The Dish has informally dubbed this as the sports bar mode. This mode features a multi-channel view that can split the TV screen into sections with each quadrant having 1080p feed.
The Hopper 3's multi-channel function also has an added viewing option where a 4k ultra-HD sets are included. Dish is partnering with Sony so expansion of the number of TV shows and films that can be rented is possible. As soon as they are available in 4K on Sony's video store, the consumers can also view it on Dish. The wide range of selections include "American Hustle" and "Spiderman" among others.
When compared with its predecessor, the Hopper 3 is faster due to its Broadcom chip. Dish has claimed that Hopper 3 is the first ever DVR to make use of USB 3.0 so content can be stored externally.
Dish will also be releasing a device called the Hopper Go. This portable device gives owners the ability to bring 100 hours worth of recorded content anywhere by streaming it through mobile devices or computers, even without internet. The Hopper Go has a Wi-Fi network which can be used up simultaneously by five devices, The Verge reported.
Hopper 3 will be released before February and will cost $15/month. The Hopper Go, on the other hand, costs a one-time added charge of $99.
