San Francisco
A San Francisco tech worker submitted an open letter to the city's mayor and chief of police stating that he was unhappy about how they are handling the city's homeless people. The mobile app developer referred to them as "riff raff" and complained that the number of squatters had peaked since he moved to the Bay Area three years ago.

Justin Keller wrote the letter to Mayor Ed Lee and Police Chief Greg Suhr, according to NBC Bay Area. Keller has himself been criticized for his letter of complaint.
The techie argued in a blog post that he should not have to see the pain and sadness of homeless people when he goes to work every day. He asked the mayor what he will do to fix the problem.
Keller admitted he understands residents were upset the city was becoming more expensive because more wealthy people were moving to San Francisco. However, he stated they have the right to live there.
Near the end of the letter Keller promises a "revolution." It would cause rich people to elect officials who would remove homeless people from the city.
Such gentrification has been a problem in the city's poor neighborhoods for a long time. For example, the growing tech hub has been a factor in higher rents and small businesses closing.
Keller praised the city for moving homeless people before the Super Bowl recently held there. However, the action resulted in many protests among activists.
Hundreds of people set up tents in the short-term Super Bowl City, according to The Guardian. They argued that homeless people had the right to be in the downtown area that had been changed into an exhibit for NFL sponsors.
Many San Franciscans have made tweets and Medium posts arguing that Keller is not aware about the city's issues. One tweet suggested that Keller and other rich people do not care about other human beings.
However, some people defended Keller's open letter. One Reddit poster shared that they had the same experience when they visited San Francisco.
Keller apologized after the original blog post about using the word "riff raff." He said it was unkind to say that homeless people had no honor.
