"Clash of Clans" is one of the most popular mobile games nowadays. However, as innocent as the characters look, the app is dangerous in another form. A new report has shown that this gaming app is being highly used by pedophiles to groom kids.

The alarming report had highlighted the fact that almost 400 children, both boys and girls, have been targeted using the gaming app. This is in conjunction with another popular app, this time the social media site Instagram, Mirror reported.

So far, the youngest targeted victim was a seven-year-old boy, who was groomed using "Clash of Clans. Sadly, the cases do end in sexual abuse. Apart from the more recent case of the seven-year-old boy, there was a prior case where a British girl who was 14 years old had been groomed using the same gaming app.

It appears that predator even flew from the U.S. to get the girl, The Sun reported. Afterwards, the predator had even given the girl an engagement and performed sexual acts with her. The predator had been arrested and admitted to charges of sexual activity with a minor and abduction.

Sexual predators have often used social media sites to groom potential victims. This has grown strongly with the emergence of more social networking sites and messaging apps.

As for "Clash of Clans," developer Supercell has been adamant in putting security precautions and check points in the game. For instance, the game has a 13-years old and above restriction for downloads. Additionally, the developer does not allow for private chats among players. There are also warnings against sharing any personal information.

In related news, Supercell has just recently release a new game, a spin-off of its popular title which is known as "Clash Royale." The free-to-play spin-off features collectible cards that can be deployed as troops in one-on-one battles against other players. Despite being free-to-play, the developer offers the chance for players to make in-app purchases to upgrade cards faster.

The game is still currently on soft launch, as it is only available on the iOS in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, New Zealand, Norway and Sweden.
