Microsoft's next generation plan is failing big time, and it began when Sony announced the PlayStation 4. The software giant is making plans to release a new game called Quantum Break for both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, and from what we're hearing, things might not be going well.

The Xbox One version of the game has been reported by Remedy to be running at 1080p HD, but it appears this is not the case. Digital Foundry played around with Quantum Break and from what the publication has to say, this game is more of a 720p experience than anything else.

If this is the case, then we are in for a huge disappointment going forward with this game where performance is concerned.

The Xbox One is not the most powerful game console in the world, which means it struggles to hit the 1080p mark many times since 2013. This is due to the weaker hardware when compared to the PlayStation 4 and the ESRAM.

From what we have come to understand, Remedy seem to have had no choice but to make several compromises to the game in order to get the graphics to wear it is today. And make no mistake, this game is beautiful and probably the most graphical enhanced Xbox One game to-date.

It seems as if Remedy took more compromises than what was needed because the performance of the game, according to DF, is lacking. Gamers will likely experience stutters and issues taking accurate shots when facing off against multiple enemies.

"tearing and frame-rate drops result in judder and reduced controller response here, with this having a knock-on effect to gameplay. Performance suffers just as we take aim at surrounding enemies, and the variable levels of latency and visible stutter make it harder to take accurate shots," according to Digital Foundry.

Surely, the problems here can be fixed with a day-one patch, but that is unlikely since the code here is final. It is becoming very clear that the Windows 10 version might be the way to go, or Microsoft may need to release that upgraded Xbox One sooner rather than later.
