Steam has just added several classic games for the Atari 2600 console that people can play on their Microsoft Windows desktops and laptops. These 100 retro titles are from the 1970s and 1980s during an era before PS4 and Xbox One when arcade games with joysticks and token slots were totally awesome. The collection of old-school video games for the Atari gaming system includes Centipede, Asteroids, Tempest, Missile Command, and Football.

Atari announced its new Atari Vault platform January, according to PC Gamer. At that time it did not reveal which titles would be included in the game bundle.
The 100-game collection is from the original Atari 2600 that was launched in 1977. Steam's Atari Vault is a digital gaming venue that includes features such as global leaderboards for each game, images of original boxes, and game soundtracks.
In addition, Steam's Vault lets players go head-to-head in the multiplayer option. Gamers who own the Steam controller can also use a touch trackpad instead of a trackball.
The gaming venue even includes 3D arcade cabinets that provide 360-degree views. This feature could be popular with virtual reality fans and gaming history aficionados.
Steam's Atari Vault also has a new retro look that makes it easier to browse the list of old video games, according to Tech Times.
Atari CEO Ford Chesnais said in an official statement released on March 24, Thursday that Atari Vault allows today's gamers to play some of the world's first video games. The company hopes they will get as excited as gamers who played the original versions in arcades and homes.
Steam offers Atari Vault for about $17 and is also throwing in a 15 percent discount until March 31. It is only available for Windows so Mac and mobile device owners cannot enjoy the vintage games.
In related news Hori will launch a Wii U Game Pad protector that features characters from Nintendo's classic NES game The Legend of Zelda. It will be available in North America on April 21 and can be pre-ordered at Amazon for about $15.
