Google's 18th birthday doodle, designed by doodler Derben Steenks, came as a surprise to many on September 27 and left some confused. Particularly frustrating is the fact that this year could even be Google's 19th birthday, since some state the company was created in 1997.
However, Larry Page and Sergey Brin conceived of the idea for Google in 1996. So Google, how are you really?
Interestingly Google has been celebrating its birthday throughout this calendar month with at least six dates between September 4 until 27 having been used to celebrate its birth. While each date has its own significance, September 4 has is special as that was the day Google was incorporated legally and got its official bank account.
However, more recently, Google has decided to stick with September 27 as the official celebration of its genesis.
