Apple, Samsung
Apple released its Apple Watch Series 2 on Sept. 7, and it looks much like the original Apple Watch. The Samsung Gear S3, which was unveiled at IFA, is the natural competition for the Apple Watch Series 2.
The Apple Watch Series 2 was launched with watchOS 3, which brings many upgrades such as watch faces, the ability to write on the screen to send messages, and SOS functionality to alert users about emergency contacts to their location or dial 911. While the Gear S3 can do all this, it cannot run Pokemon Go app which would be available on the Apple Watch Series 2 before the end of this year.

Similar to the Gear S2, the Samsung Gear S3 runs on the Tizen OS. The South Korean tech giant claims there would be over 10,000 apps available at on the device when it is launched.
With regard to the processor, the Apple Watch Series 2 uses a new dual-core S2 SoC, which the Cupertino-based tech giant claims is twice faster than the original Apple Watch, with a GPU that delivers a 50 percent faster performance. Users should expect 60 frames per second in some apps.
The Samsung Gear S3 has a dual-core 1GHz processor with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Users can synchronize a pair of Bluetooth headphones to listen to MP3s loaded or stream Spotify with an LTE-enabled version. However, there is no LTE-enabled Apple Watch for now.
The Samsung Gear S3 comes with built-in GPS, gyroscope, an accelerometer, and heart rate sensor in addition to an altimeter, barometer, in-build speaker, and microphone. The Apple Watch Series 2 comes with an accelerometer, gyroscope, built-in GPS, and heart rate monitor. The two wearables are fantastic choices for athletes and runners as they can track calories, distance, steps, and all usual activities and metrics.
The Apple Watch Series 2 is a better choice for dedicated swimmers, particularly since it can track indoor and outdoor swimming. Meanwhile, both watches can be used to pay for goods without pulling out a wallet. The Apple Watch Series 2 uses Apple Pay, while the Gear S3 uses Samsung Pay. When it comes to payment, the Gear S3 has the upper hand because it supports Magnetic Secure Transmission, and therefore, can be used with any device that reads a credit card.
