Apple is currently on the works of removing their standard 3.5mm headphone jacks to move to wireless headsets to boost their sales for the upcoming iPhone 7. However, Apple's attempt just ignited an online petition by furious consumers appealing for Apple to keep the 3.5mm headset jack.

"Only a massive international campaign can force Apple to change course now. Not only will this force iPhone users to dole out additional cash to replace their hi-fi headphones, it will singlehandedly create mountains of electronic waste-that likely won't get recycled. Tell Apple to keep the standard headphone jack and ditch planned obsolescence!" Sum of Us reported.

The online petition has gathered 200,000 signatures and counting.

In connection to this, 9to5Mac reports that Apple is currently working with Beats Electronics on developing the cord-free headphones that is said to be partnered with the anticipated iPhone 7.

According to the report, the cord-free headphones are undergoing prototyping to be released ahead of the iPhone 7. It will be sold as a separate premium accessory, while the packaged iPhone 7 is assumed to come with the standard issued lighting or Bluetooth headset rather than the standard 3.5mm headset.  

A news from MacRumors says that Apple registered on the applications of the AirPods trademark at Entertainment in Flight LLC, which is the shell firm because of it lacking any other activity, it uses an email address from Gmail for contact detail, and date request set as priority for trademarking, where records online aren't available, the application is seem to come from Jamaica, which is a usual activity from Apple when they try to hide their future products.

The future AirPod wireless earbuds is an addition to the list of possible forthcoming but hidden products like updated Magic Mouse 2 and Apple Wireless Keyboard using LE 4.2 Bluetooth, as reported earlier in 2015. Even though, those products had placed early 2016 date, the needed documents reflect they may be longer than imaginable wireless earbuds from Apple.

The wireless headphones will not feature any ports but will come with small case to recharge the headphones when not in use.  Meanwhile, there hasn't been any confirmation on the iPhone 7's release.
