    Google Fiber offers $10 landline phone service to challenge major telecoms

    Google Fiber is taking on major telecoms by offering its first landline service called Fiber Phone that provides subscribes with an old-school telephone line for $10. The Alphabet company is offering the unlimited calling option like its voicemail service Google Voice that transcribes voicemails then sends a mobile alert to people's smartphones when they are away from their home or workplace. While the social trend is shifting towards mobile devices, landlines are still common in middle America and among older phone users.

After completing a program at Harvard Business School the CEO has based T-Mobile's success on being the "Un-Carrier."

    Periscope reports 200 million live-streamed broadcasts during app’s first year

    Twitter's live-streaming app Periscope celebrated its first birthday this weekend. The company also released figures showing that since the mobile app went live in March 2015 the network has hosted over 200 million live broadcasts. In addition, Periscope users daily watch over 110 years of live video on iOS and Android devices.

    Oculus has starting shipping its $599 Rift virtual reality (VR) headsets that will be on backorder until July. The VR device provides a high-quality immersive experience for which fans have been waiting years. However, the Rift headset needs a powerful gaming Windows PC to function and Oculus founder Palmer Luckey shares that the Facebook-owned company has no plans to make the unit available for Apple's Macs in the near future.

    The FBI has been able to break the encryption of San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook's iPhone 5c to access the data. Thus, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has plans to drop its case against Apple after securing a court-issued order to build a new version of iOS for hacking the smartphone. Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people in a terrorist attack in the California city last December 2.

The company's research and development wing reported that the Twitter posts that supported racism, genocide, and Adolf Hitler did not represent the company's goals for Tay, and the chat box will not go online until the tech giant fixes the vulnerabilities.
