Treyarch's "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" has achieved quite another feat in 2015. With only two months on sale before the year ended, the game still managed to become one of the top selling games of the year.
The new NPD report stated that, it had been among the games that had sold well globally, both in the number of games as well as the amount sold. This feat has even pushed the success of the entire franchise even further, Destructoid reported.
Overall counting "Cal of Duty: Black Ops 3," the entire franchise and its 12 instalments have already reached 250 million sold copies so far. According to the data, the past year had also been the seventh year in a row that a "Call of Duty" series has been the top selling game in North America.
Treyarch has a treat this weekend as the developer announced its first Double Cryptokey weekend. "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" players can enjoy the event until Jan. 19. Treyarch had tweeted the announcement over its official Twitter page.
Since "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is relatively still new in the market with a little over two months out in retailers, some may still have not yet gotten the Season Pass for the game. Now may be the best time to do so, as retailer GameStop has recently announced a new preorder incentive. A double-sided poster will be a bonus item for purchasing the $50 Season Pass, GameSpot reported.
One side of the poster features the Der Eisendrache, the theme behind the Zombies map. It was previously seen in the new "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" cinematic trailer recently released by the developer. The other side of the poster features the Awakening DLC for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." It shows some images of the different maps, as seen in the previous teaser images for the expansion.
Awakening is set to launch first on the PS4 and PS3, thanks to the timed exclusive arrangement between Sony and Activision. The new "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" expansion will come on Feb. 2, while Xbox and PCC players will have to wait a little longer to get the DLC.
