The Honor 6X smartphone has been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 and will be launched in India on Jan. 24.
The Honor 6X is the latest affordable smartphone from Huawei's Honor smartphone company. It was launched in China in October 2015 along with the Honor Watch S1 smartphone. It is expected to be launched in India by the end of this month.
The Honor 6X was also launched in few other markets as Huawei Mate 9 Lite and Huawei GR5 2017. It is the successor to the popular Honor 5X smartphone. It has a 5.5-inch full high-definition IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 2.5D glass laid on top.
The Honor 6X is powered by an octa-core Kirin 655 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.1 GHz and coupled with Mali T830 graphics processing unit. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box with the EMUI 4.0 user interface. It would soon receive the Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 update.
The Honor 6X comes in two storage variant: one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in memory. The device's storage can be expanded up to a maximum of 128GB via a microSD card slot.
In the camera department, the Honor 6X features a 12-megapixel primary camera at the back with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus and another 2-megapixel secondary camera sensor for offering bokeh effect. It also carries an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Honor 6X comes with dual SIM dual standby support and offers 4G VoLTE out of the box. Other connectivity options the device boasts of are Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, 4G, VoLTE, and microUSB 2.0 port. However, it lacks the NFC, making it unusable for mobile payment services such as Android Pay.
The Honor 6X is packed with a fingerprint scanner and a 3440 mAh non-removable battery that can deliver 23 hours of talk time and lasts up to 650 hours on standby mode. It measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm in dimension with a weight of 162 grams.
The Honor 6X is priced in China at $144 (999 yuan) for 3GB RAM variant, in Europe at $306.15 (€249) for 3GB and $367.62 (€299) for 4GB, and in the U.S. at $250 for 3GB and $299 for 4GB.
