Pokemon Go has undoubtedly taken the world by storm last year. Now, Niantic has announced some new updates for Android and iOS, its first for 2017.
According to NeuroGadget, changes expected include alterations on the distance parameters used for tracking so GPS drifts could be accounted in a more efficient way. The recent version will change how the GPS tracker works, which means eggs will potentially take longer to hatch, the Express reported.
Before, Pokemon Go tracks distance through GPS, thus players sometimes gain additional steps even though they are standing still. Now, the new update ditch this out, giving users no chance of gaining bonus steps.
Other changes included are some minor text improvements and Apple Watch Pokemon Go application update so PokeStop eggs can be displayed.
While these sound a bit disappointing, dataminers found more beefy details in the games APK code.
According to the Daily Star, the Sliph Road website has discovered a handful of hidden files rooting through the APK for the game. Through this, it found more references to Gen 2, a slate of evolution items, and references to Pokemon forms predominantly linked to the Gen 2 Pokemon Unowns.
"Much has been added to enable Pokemon FORMS. In Gen 2, the Pokemon this applies to is UNOWN and its many various forms," the website said.
"We're not sure how Niantic will roll out the Unown species, but showing support for the various forms bodes well for Niantic expanding their mechanics to handle the complexity of species with different forms."
The APK also spilled some info of a shiny Pokemon, although it cannot be determined if it will be rolled out before or after any new Gen 2 Pokemon. Furthermore, it also mentioned of the addition of a "News" section, likely to keep its avid fans updated with the latest whereabouts, news, or events.
Also, it integrated some Avatar customization, which highly suggests that trainers could soon select new accessories, such as belts, necklaces, and glasses, for their characters.
