The Yalu102 jailbreak supports the iOS 10.2 firmware update for Apple 64-bit devices like the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and iPhone SE, among others. For owners of current-gen flagship handsets, the good news is that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will also be supported soon. Yalu jailbreak creator, Luca Todesco, announced this via Twitter, but there is still no specific date when the update will be available. Todesco said that it is currently not his priority.
The Yalu102 jailbreak from Todesco is semi-untethered, so users need to repeat the jailbreak every time they reboot or restart their devices. Apple has also closed the signing window for iOS 10.2, so those who have upgraded to 10.2.1 and are hoping to downgrade to iOS 10.2 to jailbreak their devices would not be able to do so anymore.
Many users have been anticipating the iOS 10.2 jailbreak, but the only jailbreak tool previously available was the Yalu iOS 10 jailbreak by Luca Todesco. The Yalu iOS 10 can free 64-bit devices which run on iOS 10.0 to 10.1.1, but it is still in the beta testing stage. It works with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Pro, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone SE with TMSC processors can now be modified as well.
Apple has released iOS 10.2 beta 7 for developers and the general public. As the Cupertino tech giant released the seventh version of the iOS 10.2, Todesco warned jailbreakers to avoid Apple's newest update. He asked users to use the iOS 10.1.1 because the firmware update will fix many bugs and may make iOS 10 impossible to jailbreak. He advised this even if it seems wiser for users to update and make their devices safe and secure.
According to Todesco, those who want to jailbreak their devices also have to save the SHSH2 blobs for iOS 10.2. This will allow the user to downgrade and upgrade the firmware via Prometheus. He said that Apple's operating system is still very vulnerable to hacking systems and that the iOS 10.2 jailbreak can now crack through the walled system. Those who have saved the blobs correctly in their devices can jailbreak it with the use of the Yalu102 latest version.
Meanwhile, Chinese hacking group Pangu hinted that an iOS 10 jailbreak tool would be released soon. In fact, Pangu announced that it would release a jailbreak tool in less than a month after a major iOS update is released. There are speculations that the delay is being caused by Apple's frequent patches to update holes. There is still no such tool yet, and with the debut of the iOS 10.2, it is now or never for the group. Pangu could indeed release the iOS 10 jailbreak tool soon, but the hacking team has not confirmed anything yet.
Important security updates are said to make the jailbreak malfunction. Pangu may also be waiting for a more stable iOS before it releases any jailbreak. The group still offers the iOS 9.3 firmware on its site, and it is currently the best jailbreaking tool for its ability to circumnavigate the Apple OS firmware. The iOS 10.2 is not compatible with the iPhone 7 and Pangu could possibly be just waiting for Apple to release the 10.2 to beat Apple's security patch.
