New updates for "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature different character functions and "Final Fantasy VII" spin-off compilation teased.

It seems that new game developments for "Final Fantasy 7' remake have been revealed as game director Tetsuya Nomura teased in an interview that each character in the game will have different functions and a gameplay.

An example of this is Barret Wallace as Nomura described him as the "gunner" in the game as they will use long range attacks during battle as opposed to close combat like Cloud Strife. Perhaps players will have more control over how the characters are deployed on the battlefield, and while melee fighters will always need to close in on the opponents to deal damage, those with long range weapons may be able to remain deadly from afar, possibly even working effectively as snipers, Gematsu reported.

Nomura teased before the "Final Fantasy 7" remake's gameplay will be similar to "Final Fantasy XV" which is action-RPG style and will feature destructive objects and environments. Players can target specific weaknesses for boss characters within the game.

The idea of destroying individual parts of the enemy in the middle of the boss battle is certainly an interesting one. However, it remains to be seen that how much in-depth the developers have implemented it into "Final Fantasy 7" remake.

Square Enix will also implement some changes in the Materia System as well, calling it "skill based" and it will be different from casting magic.

In other news, Nomura made some comments regarding a HD compilation for "Final Fantasy VII" spin-off games such as "Before Crisis", "Crisis Core", and "Dirge of Cerberus."

The game director told Finaland that making a compilation for the "Final Fantasy VII" spin-offs will be a difficult task considering that there might not be any continuity between them and "Final Fantasy 7" remake at the moment.

Nomura wanted "Final Fantasy 7" remake to be different from the original game, but at the same time will not make any sudden big changes in order to retain the feeling of nostalgia to older gaming fans.

"Final Fantasy 7" remake is speculated to launch sometime within 2017 for the PS4.
