Sony To Discontinue Xperia Z Series Smartphones

Fresh information from Sony Mobile indicates that the Sony Xperia Z series smartphones will be discontinued.

On Monday, Sony had announced the all new Xperia X series smartphones. It includes three smartphones namely, the Xperia X, Xperia X and Xperia X Performance. On Facebook, Sony Mobile Germany posted that the Xperia X series smartphones will succeed the Xperia Z line up, GSM Arena reported

Sony Xperia Z6 is one of the rumored flagship smartphones of this year. It was expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2016. However, Sony Mobile Germany has also confirmed that the company will not be releasing it. Hence, the Sony Xperia X Performance is said to be a successor model for the Xperia Z5, Phone Arena reported.

The Sony Xperia X is an upper midrange phone that comes whereas the Xperia XA is a budget device. However, the Xperia X Performance is built with advanced specs. Sony has introduced the Xperia X series to better meet the requirements of the end user.

All the three smartphones feature 5-inch displays. Except for the Xperia XA that supports HD resolution, the other two smartphones carry support for full HD resolution. These smartphones come preloaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.

The Xperia X is powered by Snapdragon 650 chipset that is supported by 3 GB of RAM. For storage, the smartphone offers 32 GB and 64 GB storage options and it carries support for 200 GB of microSD card. The Xperia XA is powered by Helio P10 chipset from MediaTek. It comes with 16 GB of storage and the external storage supports 200 GB of microSD card.

The Xperia X Performance is an IP68 certified device which means that it fitted with a dust and water resistant chassis. It is fueled by Snapdragon 820 chipset that is coupled with 3 GB of RAM.

The Xperia X and X Performance feature 23 MP camera on the rear and a 13 MP camera on the front panel. Both the smartphones are equipped fingerprint sensors, a feature that is not provided on the Xperia XA. The XA comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a frontal shooter of 8 MP.

The Xperia XA houses a 2300 mAh battery. However, the Xperia X and Xperia X Performance smartphones are packed with 2620 mAh and 2700 mAh batteries, respectively.
