The PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio are almost upon us, but Sony and Microsoft are taking different approaches with their gaming consoles.
Sony officially revealed the PS4 Pro in September while Microsoft has only disclosed a few tidbits about the Xbox One Scorpio.
Microsoft has emphasized that the Xbox One Scorpio will feature a 4K Blu-ray drive - a concept which Sony has discarded for the PS4 Pro. The company has positioned the Xbox One Scorpio as a high-end console for hardcore players. It will have a premium price and could hit the market in 2017. However, this could pose a problem as PC prices are already going down. It can be noted that the company already lost a lot of players because of its disastrous campaigns for the Xbox One.
The Xbox One Scorpio was unveiled at the E3 Expo early this year, and it is expected to be the most powerful console with virtual reality support and 4K gaming. It could come with six teraflops of GPU, which is more powerful that the PS4 Pro.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 Pro features an octa-core AMD Jaguar x86-64bit CPU with 4.2 Teraflop GPU. Memory bandwidth is important for VR and 4K gaming and the Xbox One Scorpio could come with a 320 Gbps bandwidth while the PS4 Pro sports only a 218 Gbps one.
The PS4 Pro will be priced at $399 USD while Microsoft will likely sell the Xbox One Scorpio for $499 USD or more.
