According to PC Gamer, the Valve president vaguely deflected questions about one of the most anticipated game sequels. A fan asked about the alleged Valve insider who claimed that "Half-Life 3" is vaporware. Newell teasingly replied that he believes all "unidentified sources on the internet."
He confirmed that the company is using the Source 2 as its main game development engine. "Dota 2" was recently migrated to the new development platform. Newell claims that some of the titles that Valve is developing currently are based on the engine. He also expressed his plan to expand the platform by allowing the developer community to use it free of charge.
According to Digital Trends, a verified Valve employee has sheds some light on the "Team Fortress 2." The next major update will apparently bring a new campaign, some online matchmaking features, and improvements, the pyro class pack as well as game balance tweaks. Newell also confirmed that the "Half-Life" and "Portal" movie adaptations are still in the works.
According to Newell, Valve is developing some VR games that pair with its knuckles controller. Based on the company's plan to expand its Source 2 development platform, it appears that some Valve titles, namely "CS:GO" and "Team Fortress 2," might be migrated to the new engine.
