Facebook Down Update (Pixabay)
“Facebook Messenger Day” is another way for social media users to share photos and videos with their friends using tools that allow them to edit by adding design, stickers, emojis or filters to their pictures or videos.
At the same time, their friends can put their comments or reply on it. The photos and videos shared can only be viewed within 24 hours and will be gone automatically afterwards. Now, Doesn’t this sound very familiar? It does sound exactly like “Snapchat Stories”.

Apart from that, the whole Messenger Day platform is based from the way the Messenger camera app works. Last December, Facebook unveiled a new interface and it is quite apparent that the new interface of Facebook Messenger Day ‘s interface has the same features in the interface of Snapchat’s.
In 2013, Snapchat rejected Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s offer to buy the messaging company for $3 billion and it seems that ever since then Facebook has been dealing with its competitor by cloning its features.
It’s not the first time that Facebook has tried to copy Snapchat’s features. In Instagram, which is now owned by Facebook, it released its very own version of Snapchat Stories, familiarly called Instagram Stories. Similarly, WhatsApp, which is another subsidiary of Facebook, has a now feature called Whatsapp Status. Facebook itself has taken a crack at a Snapchat clone under its own branding when it introduced the “Poke” feature.
In all fairness, Facebook has been using this tactic, which effectively works well for it when it comes to other startup company posing as a competitor. It is the very reason Facebook bought both Instagram and WhatsApp, after all.
However, this is quite unlikely to happen to Snapchat. With its recent IPO, Snap, the company that owns ‘Snapchat’ has a market value of $34 billion, which likely even puts it out of Facebook’s considerable reach.
