People expected a "Diablo 4"-related announcement in BlizzCon 2016 but were left massively disappointed. Now, although Blizzard has yet to hint to the new installment, fans are again speculating that BlizzCon 2017 will be the perfect time for an update regarding the game's development stage.

Blizzard recently announced ticketing details of BlizzCon 2017, sparking debates about which games will be in the spotlight. Among the developer's numerous mainstream titles, what the gamers are looking forward to is "Diablo 4" since there is no official news yet on when it is going to be released.
The studio has already expressed interest in making a sequel to "Diablo 3," Counsel Heal reports, but it did not disclose when it is planning to start the development of the game. Rumors, however, are saying that production may start soon if it has not already. This is because Bill Roper, Vice President/GM at Disney Interactive Studios who also worked before on the "Diablo" franchise closely, is allegedly coming back to Blizzard.
The goodie bag from BlizzCon 2016 may also be a hint that a "Diablo 4" announcement is coming soon. The bag contained a die with four sides and according to dice naming conventions, it is called D4.
On the other hand, Blizzard seems too focused on "Diablo 3" right now and other projects that the sequel's production may be taking a backseat. The developers are working hard to bring the Necromancers DLC soon, which means they got their hands full right now.
Furthermore, season 10 is starting soon, University Herald reports. "Diablo 3" Season 9 is ending on March 17 at 8 p.m. ET and the next season starts on March 31 at 8 p.m. ET. There are still a lot of things going on in the game, so "Diablo 4" may not still be in Blizzard's immediate plans for now. Still, official news will be reported as soon as it comes out.
