OnePlus has not yet disclosed its plans for the next flagship smartphone, but the latest leaks have given the tech enthusiasts an idea on how the OnePlus 5 would fare against its potential competitors. For one, the OnePlus 5 is expected to be powered by the latest and fastest Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 835. According to the International Business Times, this processor is more powerful than the one being used by the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 5 will have up to 8GB of RAM.
The OnePlus 5 is also expected to sport a Quad HD AMOLED display and a dual-curved edge screen design. According to Latin Post, the next OnePlus device will be different compared to its predecessor as it will sport an all-glass body, accentuating the device's premium look. There were speculations that the OnePlus 5 will have ceramic components, but the smartphone maker may opt for a glass appearance instead.
The current high-end flagship devices on the market today have an IP68 water and dust-resistant rating. If the rumors are anything to go by, the OnePlus 5 is expected to get the same IP68 rating. Thus the handset will not be susceptible to damage due to moisture and tiny particles that may disrupt its circuit.
Based on the recent leaks, the camera department of the OnePlus 5 also does not disappoint. The smartphone is expected to boast a 23MP rear camera that is suitable to capture sharp details in images. Other features include a USB Type-C port plus wireless charging capabilities.
The OnePlus 5 label is expected to follow the OnePlus 3T, given that the number four bodes bad luck in Chinese tradition. Meanwhile, it is better to wait for the official announcement from OnePlus and take these rumors with a grain of salt.
