High blood pressure is one of the main contributors to cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies have revealed that with the help of a proper breathing exercises, high blood pressure might be prevented at an early stage.
Experts from the University of Melbourne and Macquarie University recently discovered that controlling an individual's breathing positively affects blood pressure. Such connection has been linked to the unusual activity between neurons controlling a person's breathing and the pressure of his blood, and such parallelism may be clearly observed in the field of sports.

"Biathletes have to regulate their breathing to slow down their heart rate before rifle shooting, and eastern meditative practices such as yoga and pranayama have always emphasized the interaction between the two," Medical Express quoted head researcher Professor Andrew Allen as saying.
With the identification of this connection, preventing high blood pressure can be much easier. With proper therapy and breathing exercise, blood pressure can be dramatically reduced.
However, the efficiency of the method likely depends on detecting the development of hypertension at its early stage. This means that recognizing symptoms of hypertension or high blood pressure is of great importance in applying breathing techniques.
Meanwhile, there are other alternatives that would help prevent high blood pressure even when detected in the latter stage. Some of these methods may not even require any form of medication or prescription drugs.
For starters, it would be best to monitor the blood pressure, according to Everyday Health. This will serve as a point of evaluation, which will dictate the steps to be taken.
To avoid hypertension, make sure that you choose a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight. Eating a balanced diet and proper exercise also goes a long way to help.
