The rumored "Red Dead Redemption 2" cross-platform gameplay was first hinted last month and discussion about it have resurfaced during the E3 2017 event. While this cross-platform play rumor is still not being discussed by Rockstar Games, the site states that its sources are reputable and have revealed correct information in the past regarding various "Red Dead Redemption 2" announcements.
For now, it is unknown if Rockstar Games made some meetings between Sony and Microsoft, since "Red Dead Redemption 2 is still in the early stages of development. However, while cross-play would be a welcome feature for the fan base, there is a possibility that this rumor may remain as nothing more than a rumor based on Sony’s current stance on cross-platform play.
Gaming fans were hoping that Rockstar Games and Take-two Interactive showcased "Red Dead Redemption 2" at E3 2017, but it did not happened.
It is rumored that the sequel will feature John Marston's son, Jack as the main hero and will explore the mysteries surrounding his father's past.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will have its fair share of flashback scenes, such as the one from the reveal trailer involving Dutch’s Gang. Interestingly enough, some of Dutch’s Gang may actually be playable figures in some capacity during these flashbacks, which could lend credence to the speculation that the title involves multiple characters that can be controlled by players and even time skips.
The game's map size will have a minimum of two mighty sizeable towns for players to explore, and there are apparently a lot of “little places scattered” all around the area, which is possibly bigger than "Grand Theft Auto 5."
Heists missions will likely be featured in "Red Dead Redemption 2" as gamers can plunder banks, trains, and saloons, with kidnapping as an option. The multiplayer is speculated it will be “very economy driven,” allowing players to trade and sell each other items.
Exotic mounts will be featured to boot, such as zebras and buffalo, and gamers can also gain the ability to customize their wagons with gatling guns and other deadly weapons.
As for the release date, Rockstar Games previously announced that "Red Dead Redemption 2" could launch sometime next year after its delay in the Fall this year.
The delay announcement caused a 9 percent drop in Take Two’s share value, such is the excitement around the title. The game’s release has been narrowed down slightly in Take Two’s financial report for the fiscal year.
However, the company's fiscal year also comes into play, which means that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released between April 2018 and March 2019. With ‘spring’ still being targeted, it is possible that gamers will see the sequel launch in either April or May, unless it is delayed again, VG 24/7 reported.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will launch sometime in 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
