LG's Under-Display Fingerprint Scanner
LG has recently discovered an improved version of the fingerprint scanner that was initiated by Apple.
Apple was the first to install fingerprint readers into its iPhones which they call Touch ID that is integrated with the Home button. The fingerprint scanner garnered good reviews from those who already experienced it that is why competitors took Apple's innovation and created their own version. Putting fingerprint scanners on mobile devices needs a designated place on the phone, advisably away from the touchscreen, which is why other tech companies placed the sensor at the back of the device.

With LG's latest discovery, the problem with having a dedicated area for the fingerprint scanner has been resolved by putting the sensor underneath the glass of the touch screen.
With the defined effort and précised execution, LG came out with putting the fingerprint scanner underneath the glass, which can gather accurate scanning even in multiple times. The scanner measures 0.3mm thick which is located at the back of the cover glass and needless to occupy huge much space on the device.
One of the advantages of having the fingerprint scanner under the glass is that it can be resistant to moisture and scratch damage, which is more visible to the usual fingerprint readers. With the same accuracy from the button-type scanners, the under-glass version has 0.002 percentage when it comes to its acceptance rate, according to Geek.
Since the under-glass fingerprint scanner is said to be 99.998 percent accurate makes it more unlikely to go wrong in recognizing a command or the fingerprint of the user itself. This latest discovery from LG was created by LG Innotek, the company's subsidiary. This sensor is set to permit its users to place their finger on the glass of the touch screen and then it will determine the fingerprint.
Currently, LG has not disclosed additional information about their latest innovation. There has not been any statement made to confirm if all upcoming LG devices will be using the under-glass fingerprint scanner. It wouldn't be surprising if other companies are secretly watching over updates about this under-glass fingerprint sensor, as reported by Gizmag.
