Since the full specifications of Galaxy J7 (2017) have surfaced, its arrival seems imminent. Here is a comparison of specs, pricing and features of Galaxy J7 (2016) with its successor phone.

Design and Display

Rumors hint the Galaxy J7 (2017) has a metallic chassis in color options like black and white. It will sport a distinctive horizontal strip of metal that houses the rear camera. The predecessor model came with plastic chassis and color choices of black, white, gold and rose gold.

The newer model is expected to come with a full HD display of 5.5 inches. GSM Arena reported that its Wi-Fi certification has revealed that it features a 5.5-inch HD screen. However, the Galaxy J7 (2016) has a 5.5-inch screen that offers HD resolution,

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Galaxy J7 (2017) will be powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset that also powers recent midrange phones like Moto G5 Plus, Redmi Note 4, and ZenFone 3. It is expected to feature 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of native storage. A microSD card slot will be also available on the phone.

The older model also features 16 GB storage and 2 GB of RAM and it is powered by Snapdragon 617 chipset. it also features a microSD card slot.

Software, Camera and Battery

The Galaxy J7 (2017) will be arriving with Android 6.0 Marshmallow preinstalled. For photography, it will be housing a 13-megapixel rear camera and a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel, Phone Arena reported. It is expected to come with a selfie flash. The Galaxy J7 (2016) also runs on Marshmallow OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper enabled with LED flash.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) has a 3,300 mAh battery that does not feature fast charging feature. Its successor is expected to come with a smaller 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.
