Xiaomi is rumored to be working on Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini smartphone in order to take on the newly launched Apple iPhone SE (Special Edition) smartphone.
The Apple iPhone SE that was unleashed in the previous week features a 4-inch display, the Apple A9 chipset that powers the iPhone 6S smartphone and 2 GB of RAM. Now, the rumor mill has revealed that Xiaomi is working on a small-sized smartphone that will be launched with a 4.3-inch screen. The rumor mill has dubbed it as Xiaomi MI 5 Mini as it is expected to arrive with specs similar to the Mi 5 flagship smartphone.
The purported Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset that powers numerous 2016 flagships such as the Xiaomi Mi 5, Galaxy S7, LG G5, Xperia X Performance and the unreleased HTC One M10. The SD 820 chip of Mi 5 Mini will be accompanied by 3 GB of RAM, Giz China reported. The SD 820 SoC will be clocking at 1.84 GHz which indicates that the Chinese manufacturer will deliberately underclock the processor for better management of heat inside the chassis of the device.
The device will be housing a 4.3-inch display that will be supporting HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The last time Xiaomi had launched a 4.3-inch smartphone was in 2012 when it had released the Xiaomi Mi 2 smartphone. Its display also supports HD resolution. Under the display, it will be featuring a fingerprint scanner.
The native storage of the Mi 5 Mini will be 32 GB. Like the 2016 flagship, the mini device will not carry support for microSD card slot. It will be housing a 13 MP shooter on its rear panel, but it won't be carrying support for optical image stabilization (OIS) feature. Also, there is information available on the selfie camera of the device. There are no details available on the size of the battery of Mi 5 Mini.
It is speculated to be available with a price tag of 1,799 Yuan ($275). The official release date of Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini is currently under the wraps. The Apple iPhone SE smartphone that is available in storage choices of 16 GB is priced at $399 and the 64 GB model costs $499, International Business Times reported.
