Volvo teased its fans, releasing new sneak peek photos of the upcoming XC60 ahead of the Geneva Motor Show on March 7. (Facebook)
Volvo has released some sneak peek od its upcoming XC60 crossover on its Facebook page, ahead of its official launch on March 7 in Geneva. Two of the photos tease about the XC60's front end, while the third focuses on its rear.
One of the images released featured not only a driver (or model) posing at the side of a garage but also Volvo's signature vertical front slat grille, which strikes resemblance with the ones seen on the XC90, S90, and V90. Paying close attention to the headlight, the XC60 is expected to sport the "Thor's Hammer" LED daytime running lights, which would give a new look to Volvo's freshened lineup.

But a closer look would reveal that the handle of the XC60 headlights fuses with the radiator grille at the lower end. Further scrutiny of the grille shows a camera beneath the Volvo badge, which is believed to be used for Pilot Assist semi-autonomous features, Automobile Magazine noted.
Moving on to the next teaser, the image gives a glimpse of XC60's tail light design, with Volvo's signature vertical LED tail lamps that are similar to other models that sport a D-pillar. The lamps have a LED set up wraps around the corner towards the rear hatch keeping in line with the front end, forming like an 'L' shape. Its slightly different from the ones found in V90.
The new-generation model is based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) design platform that is also used by the XC90. The upcoming Volvo XC60 is anticipated to sport turbocharged four-cylinder engine options.
It could also get a 2.0-liter petrol engine that generates 254bp of power and a 1.5-liter, turbocharged, three-cylinder petrol engine. When combined with an electric motor, it could generate a total output of 250bhp.
The new Volvo XC60, which will be officially launched at the Geneva International Motor Show next week, is slated to compete against the Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, and the BMW X3.
